The Abused

THE ABUSED
Drums beating
People dancing and rejoicing
In a secluded room
Cries and pains of girls
Aged only but seven

Drums beating again
Palm Wine, Kola nut
Merry making in the air
Married at ten
All to fulfill tradition

Drums beating even harder
A cry of a new life
But behold, the young
Mother is in a pitiful state

Drums beat no more…
People are sad and unhappy
Look what their ignorance has lead to
Female genital mutilation, early marriage
Rendering them individuals knocked out of society
